Small Business Development Center Assistantships

The Small Business Development Center graduate assistant position is a unique opportunity for an M.B.A. student to gain valuable business experience working directly with entrepreneurs and to be a working staff member of a business organization.  This is a hands-on business environment.   Training is provided as well as the ability to attend small business seminars and enhance business skills.  The graduate assistant will gain practical business knowledge and practical experience.

LSBDC GNOR graduate assistant duties and responsibilities include:    

  1. Working with business clients assisting them with starting or expanding their businesses: Conduct client assessments, assist with business planning and loan packaging.
  2. Assist SBDC consultants with client work.
  3. Assist the office manager and/or director and other SBDC staff with daily operations, customer relationship management program, or other special tasks within the policies and procedures and standards of the SBDC organization.
  4. Assist with outreach events, seminars, and conferences.

Students interested in the assistantship position must meet the following qualifications at a minimum:

  1. Currently enrolled M.B.A. student
  2. Work experience in a business environment (profit or non-profit)
  3. Good written and verbal communication skills
  4. Good interpersonal skills
  5. Trainable, organized, and professional
