Short Bio
Dr. Len J. Trevino holds the Gerald N. Gaston Eminent Scholar Chair in International Business at the Joseph A. Butt, S.J. College of Business at Loyola University New Orleans. Dr. Treviño graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelors degree in Finance from the University of Notre Dame and earned an M.B.A. in Marketing from Indiana University, Bloomington. He earned a Ph.D. at Indiana University, Bloomington with a doctoral dissertation that examined the theory of the multinational enterprise and foreign direct investment in the United States.
Over the past 17 years, he has been a professor of global business strategy at several prestigious academic institutions, including at the University of Miami and Washington State University. Dr. Treviño has taught undergraduate, regular and executive M.B.A., and doctoral courses and seminars around the globe, including at Instituto de Empresa Business School (Spain), Durakij Pundit University (Thailand), National Economics University (Vietnam), Kyiv Mohyla Business School (Ukraine), and Buskerud University (Norway), among others.
Professor Trevino’s scholarly interests lie at the intersection of strategic management and international business. He has authored or co-authored over 35 refereed journal articles in international business and management journals. He has published articles in all of the leading international business journals, including Journal of International Business Studies, Management International Review, International Business Review, and Journal of World Business. In addition, he has published works in International Journal of Human Resource Management, Transnational Corporations, Journal of Labor Research, Applied Economics, and Business Horizons, among many others.
Dr. Trevino previously held professional positions in marketing at Whirlpool Corporation and as an account executive at Leo Burnett Advertising in Chicago. He has consulted widely in the field of global business strategy at such organizations as Eli Lilly, Dow Brands, DowElanco, Monsanto Corporation, Burson-Marsteller, and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, among others. His current consulting engagements focus on strategy implementation and firms’ internationalization processes. Dr. Trevino’s work takes him all over the world. Most recently, he has worked in Chile, Ecuador, Brazil, Spain, Switzerland, Mexico, Ukraine, and USA. Dr. Trevino speaks Spanish, French, and Russian.
