Short Bio

George Karamessinis started his academic carreer in 1983 as Assistant Professor of Information Systems at Central Michigan University where he taught for two years before joining the Bell Laboratories in the second half of 1985. At the Laboratories, he worked as a Systems Engineer defining Operations Support Systems for the telecommunications market. Later he led the effort to define the Network Management System for the AT&T’s Access network and the requirements for the Network Management of the new Services considered at the time. In 1992, he accepted a management position in the Intracom group, a turnkey network development company. He held several management responsibilities in the group involving the definition and sale of the network value added services, the development and operation of the group’s voice services platform and the Business Development of the new cellular networks Services and Support systems in the Balkans. In 2004, he started working as an independent consultant on Information Technologies working with companies in various industries including media-content and pharmaceudicals’ distribution. In the fall of 2008, he returned to the academic world as a visiting Assistant professor teaching Management Information Systems and other courses involving quantitative methods. He holds a degree in Mathematics from University of Patras and a Master degree in Quantitative Methods and a Ph.D in Quantitative Business Analysis from LSU.
